Mental Health Support Australia
Professional Support (non crisis)
Psychologists
The Australian Psychological Society (APS) gives you access to PsychEngage, a new feature of their Find a Psychologist service, which allows you to send appointment requests directly to psychologists.
Registered Psychologists have completed a minumum of 6 years training and education in psychology and are registered with the Australian Psychology Board of Australia (PsychBA). Psychologist sessions are funded by Medicare, and depending on their specialisation, will assist with diagnosing and treating both general and highly complex mental health issues.

You can also ask your GP for a full mental health assessment and referral to someone appropriate.
Counsellors and Psychotherapists
Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) gives you access to a range of registered counsellors and psychotherapists, who have typically completed undergraduate and post graduate studies related to counselling and mental health. Therapists are not funded by Medicare, however many private health funds offer rebates for sessions. Counsellors and Psychotherapists typically diagnose and support general mental health conditions, and those wishing to make life changes, primarily through talk therapy.
